I found this today. I figured it was dried out after years of sitting but when I plugged it into the vacuum hose on my 3A if woke right up. Pretty neat little fan. I'm told my 3A had a similar one back around the time it was new. The fan was mounted to the steering column and helped defrost the windshield when the half cab was installed. Cool gadget.

Just what you need for those frosty mornings in a few months.

won't work going up hill. Unless you have the that special fuel pump. I have one installed already to run the vacuum wiper. I just pulled the hose of that for the fan test. Even with the vacuum booster fuel pump there is still a very noticeable difference in vacuum accessory effectiveness between climbing a hill to coasting down the other side

I just let off the gas slightly going uphill when raining to let the wipers work some. I also have the WWII wipers with the manual assist to that helps as well.

I figured that driving into a headwind, just when you need wipers and defrost to see, is when neither will work. Cool looking though. Several of my vacuum wipers have the helper thumb levers broken off. Most likely from use!!!!!!!!!! The let off the gas, see for a instant, is the key to operating a Trico. Now if it is freezing because the mouse breathing on your foot heater is fading, the trico doesn't have enough power to wipe the slush sleet accross the window. Then as the ice sits there, you get a fog on the glass on the inside. That's when you use the old wiper blade to wipe it on the inside. I tried the rag idea, but it's a dirty mess from all the dust that leaked in and pretty soon you have mud on the glass. Then the rag freezes to the glass and you need your warped from the sun ice scrapper. Ever see the military solution to this? It's another window pane attached to the inside that is plugged into your 24 volt wiring sytem. A seperate fuse and special one pole plug in assembly on the M38 in 1951. They also had a artic heater. Gas fired. Jeeps are always entertaining. Oilly
