I have the time off from work approved already. It is on the calendar. Probably not the entire week but I'll be there.

I'll be staying at the hotel with the stairs BTW, I am excited!, you had other commitments and were not planning to attend. I wanted to go, but other issues get in the way, I needed a partner to cut expenses, I asked my sister to go but declined due to job issues, my friend Rolf will go, and is very excited. In the end it has all come together. Plus the Professor will most likely be there as well, Oilleaker, Grumpy, the Colorado Gang. So we will get to spend Jeep time, with Jeep friends, Jeeping. All Good...... Now if we could get them Eastern Bastages to show up (Ryan, Detard, Moooosey, Scoutpilot, HG, Zookie, it would be extra grand!. PS

I'll be there. I noticed the other day that the days had not been marked on the calendar at work, and mentioned it to my boss. He said that he had not yet approved them. I explained to him that his approval was not an issue, if there was any question, it was not a question of whether I was going, it would be a question of whether I was coming back to work afterwards. Being Short is great! BW

I checked the CJ2apage forum. I see that Chinaman Gulch is on the possible trails list. Reading that, I started buying spare parts. Driveshafts, axleshafts, U joints... I'd like to see if the little scamp can make it around the loop (taking the offical bypasses!)

Not sure which Jeep, but I'll be there. All my Jeeps have wanted to go, but I have to be fair. As to rock crawling, I have a limit I draw a line at. Chinamans Gulch looks like I need to scope it out first. Use is good, abuse isn't. Suicide by Mountainside is how the boss described it. He hit his skid plate and diffs just getting to the photo site posted over on the 2 A page. I'll be glad to go along with someone and assist. I can bring a snatchblock and tow rope along if needed. Whick one of you is doing Carnage Canyon?

Good news for CFCT participants!.......... I was out of gopher meat for jerky and was not planning on an ample supply for the great Colorado event, trapping has been good this week. . So I will have a few sampler packages along to enjoy.............. Also Oilleakers winter coat fund will be a few pelts richer this fall! Lee

Very efficient there Captain! Food and warmth all in one. You are like the old fur trappers. Running a trap line are we? There may be standing room only at this years FCT. I can't believe the flood of posts and people coming. Lots to see I'm sure. Oil

I am actually quite stressed out. I need to remember that this is for FUN. Just BREATH! I think I'll move the Willys into the garage for the next 2 weeks so I can work on it after work for an hour or so each night. That might be what it takes so I can get this bucket reliable enough to enjoy the fall color tour.
Must do:
Try to find/repair terminal sounding intermittent engine knock. Pan gasket set arrived on Monday.
remove fan belt. check crankshaft harmonic balancer hub for tightness. (I guess it is a studebaker thing!)
drill out carb jet to #55 drill.
longer heater core hose. (new head required some hose changes.) Change fuel filter and pump. (airtex is sending out a 3rd pump to try.) Chassis lubrication and oil level check/fill.
Replace lock washers on driveshaft u-bolts.
Want to do list: install power-lock in front diff skidplate for fuel pump mounted to frame rail (Chinaman Gulch might find that pump down there!) fix up rust holes
Add more rust prevention paint so it will look good in the pictures on the side of the trail with the hood up!

Easy there big fella!! If it all goes to hell on the stude-willys theres a dozen guys that would value your company in the shotgun seat. I know, it's not the same, but you can ride with me any day..

rudycon,
I've been in your shoes. (Do a bunch of fix up stuff that creates other stuff to fix up...right before the big event.) Agonizing.
I hope it all works out.

Just work on the gotta-do, and let the rest hang in there till after the "big ride"! Then you can work at your leisure all winter and be ready for the 2016 rush!!

I think the solution is to have about 4 or 5 Jeeps. One of them might be running when you need it. All of Stevens to do list doesn't worry me except the knock. The rarity of the studebaker six is cool until you need something for it quick. Another engine all ready and waiting in the wings would be a good thing If you can find one. My fingers are crossed for you! Oilly
