Remember May 8th. 70 years ago this day the war ended in Europe. The sacrifice of so many whether overseas or in the States should never be forgotten. So many gave to the cause. There are very few celebrations tomorrow in the United States for this special day. In Europe this day is momentous. We should treat it the same but since the war happened so far away, how easily Americans forget. Save for the few of us we will help the younger generations remember this day. Thank you and I Salute all of you that gave to this momentous day so that I could be here today. God Bless.  |

May 8th is a special day in our family. May 9th my Dad was to join an antiaircraft battalion on his 13th birthday from Hitler Youth. Of course the war ended May 8th. So our family celebrated both May 8th for two reasons and then Dad's Birthday May 9th. May 8th also liberated completely my Mother and family in Holland even though the Canadians had liberated the Dutch where Mom lived on the 6th of May. May 8th also liberated the German people from the ravages of their Nazi Leadership.
A very special day that is never forgotten in our family and sadly being swept under the rug here in the United States.

So true, sadly as it has been said many time's, " When history is forgotten, it soon repeats itself". Unconditional Surrender, the only reasonable option.
