Going to be driving Capt Russell Robinson (B-24 Liberator Pilot "Arrowhead") in the Dogwood Festival Parade on Saturday 25th of May 2015. I also have a card Aunt "Tante Bep" to thank him for dropping food and supplies to the Dutch People in 1944. Also some picture they took of the aircraft dropping those supplies.
I hope to have a valid video of this presentation to post up.

My family on got the B-17s dropping. Film was scarce and to even have those photos is amazing. Wonder what would have happened if they were caught with them.

At the Dogwood Festival Parade today in Vinton, VA with Captain Russell Robinson. Pilot of B-24 Liberator "Arrowhead" (34 missions). It was cold and rainy all day but with rain tomorrow they went ahead with it. The Capt was on time. 80% of the other military vehicles failed to show for the rain. One of the MV club guys asked if I would be there. They were told if it rains Eric will be there, if it's cold he'll be there, he will always be there. I was told I made the Captain's day. He made mine.

Capt. Russell Robinson with the card, letter and photos from Tante Bep. He was very honored and said to thank you. The pictures were a special treat and he will cherish them as well.

What a great and inspiring story - Eric, you are the MAN. It will be a pleasure and honour to shake your hand one day.

One of the Captain's stories from the parade day.
One new story today: After he pulled out a piece of metal from his pocket after I introduced him to some people at the parade, he said it was a piece of schrapnel from an 88mm that hit his plane. He then went on to tell one of the waist gunners that had an 88 shell come up through the floor by his crotch and up through the roof (near backbone) of the B-24. The the gunner then bent over to look at the hole and another came through the side at an angle over his head. Neither exploded. The Capt wondered why the plane started handling so bad when the gunner came over the radio and told him. He also told me his waist/door gunner lived down the road from me and had reenlisted in the Army after the war and became a Major. He unfortunately passed away before the Capt found out he was so close.
On a side note both those shells were duds otherwise the plane would have exploded or came apart.
