I picked up (what I believe is) an original WW2 pick mattock. It fits perfectly in my pioneer tool rack. Marked 5 lbs and USA. It still has OD paint on it.
I've found some royal markings on it: 3 crown stamps that are organized in a triangle pattern. I thought I had read once upon a time that marks like these meant that the tools were surplused out after the war....maybe to a Scandinavian country like Sweden. Has anyone seen or heard of that?

Grrrrrrr....you guys and your need to see!
SCHILLER! Quit being a jerk for 3 seconds and post the picture of the 3 crowns that are stamped in underside of my pick mattock. I sent you the picture the other day before you went Dr. Jekyll. I'm too lazy to find it on my phone and upload it.
I might start using Oily's point of view when it comes to pictures.

My research show this to be either Swedish or, from the Netherlands. Here's an interesting link .

That's what I'm talking about. Thanks Scout. I found on the G, some canvas marked with one crown and it was Danish. I'm sure it's Scandinavian. Pretty cool.

Since I'm in the picture posting mood...here is the pioneer rack for the WC. It is very difficult to notice, but the shovel is not the same kind represented in the manuals. The shovel should be the same style as the one for the jeeps. This one doesn't have the same bends, so it doesn't fit as precise...but it does fit. However, it is VERY period correct and I have seen a period picture or two of it strapped to the side of a jeep. I wonder if anyone can give me more info on it? (ahem...enter HG stage right) The axe is a correct 4 pounder with what I believe to be an original handle. It used to be on my jeep. It is currently acting like a placeholder until I find my Council.

Very nice!, the 99 1/2%'ers will not notice the minor discrepancies, rest easy
