A buddy of mine runs a military antiquities store near Chattanooga. Yesterday, a guy brought in some artifacts from an estate to get appraised. As he opened this canister, a pineapple practice grenade from WW2 slid out into his hand. Or so he thought it was a practice grenade!
After a bit of deliberation and then a common sense intervention by his wife, he came to the sucky realization that there was no way he could safely disarm it and preserve the mint condition grenade. The authorities came and made arrangements to blow it up. His shining consolation is that he got to hold a live grenade from WW2!

I have a practice grenade I painted all OD. After I did that, I got to thinking you probably don't want to wave it around or do something stupid in front of the wrong people. Like walk into a airport and say "hey Look at what I have". They might just shoot you before you get the chance to show them the hole in the bottom. Commom sense boys! Oil

Scheister, where'd you find that? Want to part with it? I'm looking for more. I'm also looking for a source for that exact type hinge and closure.
Come to think of it, I'm still waiting for my authentic axe for my GPW ... unless your offer wasn't genuine. You were afterall wearing Kraut gear and rubbing your Gansbaelle all over the Krautcycle in the mall ...

Now I get the phone call . Bastage only calls when he needs something. Now he hands me this axe head to restore. He finds no markings, but the shape is right. Back to the lab.... I find 1936 markings, original forgers initials , and it a 4 # er! That Bastage has about as much a chance of getting this head back, as a snowball has in Hell! I'm still in awe at how deftly "The Schill" dodged my Krautcycle question. Moosey, I guess you shoulda stopped letting him touch your stuff once you got your welder back! OR ... is it his and he's letting you "re-borrow" it?

That axe head has been sitting on a shelf in my garage for over a year. I was going to use it to procure the combat rims you (Detard) balked on. I met HG at our designated exchange spot...not to far from where that thief stole my jack...and he willingly returned my welder. I handed him the axe. He looked at it and wasn't too impressed. That night, while I was at my children's open house, I answered his phone call. All I heard on the other end was his evil laugh...you know, that laugh of his that is motivated by dollar signs? I think the last time he laughed that hard was when a bunch of idiots sent him parts to rebuild his engine.
Anyone ever wonder why he hasn't shown us it running?
My plans for the axe changed...I'm keeping it and will mount it on my WC...after I buy it on eBay.

I bought that head at the flea for a few bucks. I found a shovel that day, too. I might have to revisit that spade later today and have a looksy. It fits in the jeep slot...I don't think I ever found the makers marks. Regardless, it was a successful day with $13 spent.
