Not something they actually did during WWII but lots of people who served and mark their jeeps according to units they were in do this. The Unit crest on the the passenger side it of the 1/321 Artillery. A unit of the 101st Airborne in WWII and a glider unit. Of course the other magnet it the 101st Airborne Division shoulder patch. I served with the 1/321 Air Assault at Fort Campbell.
