Around Christmas time, I sold my Rustbucket jeep. Since the battery that had been living in it was the original 6 volt battery I bought for my GPW 7 years ago, it really didn't work. For easier starting the day the guy came to buy it, I had my newer GPW battery in the Rustbucket. I ended up tossing it in the deal to "sweeten" the pot. This gave me an opportunity to buy a new battery for the GPW!
I went outside the box and got an Optima. I drove the jeep yesterday...first time since before Christmas. First time with the Optima. I primed the fuel pump. Stepped on the accelerator once and then pressed the foot starter. No starter fluid. She came to life IMMEDIATELY!
I was impressed. Kids and I were able to go for an impromptu, hassle free drive!

I do like the Willard. I bought the battery...about the same price as a normal 6 volt battery...and free shipping from Amazon.
After I got the battery, I went looking for the case. I couldn't find a Willard case without already having an Optima sealed inside.
I ended up getting a generic tartop case that I can use forever. Looks pretty good!
I'm just really giddy how easily the jeep started. I might even track down all of the grounding straps now, too!

Oh....I didn't know the Willard was a seaĆed box, I thought it was a pic of one of those boxes like the on ebay. I've had good luck with optima batteries, I pulled the one out of my jeep when it was 10 years old, it's very weak, but it's been starting my old 8n tractor for two years now.....well, sometimes, lol!
