That's a beauty.
Boy did I catch it when I left a hemp rope out overnight in the rain once.
I paid for the mistake by back braiding all of the ends of my grandpa's ropes. Like your rope but with no loop to speak of. I learned by watching an old timer repair a parted hay rope one afternoon.

For some strange reason, I love the Old School Tow Rope! It just can accomplish so many tasks!
