I got an email via the museum from the 91st Bomb Group president, informing me that the group is having a reunion in October in Charleston, and wanted to extend an invitation to me. Me! My name was spelled correctly, so either his cat got really lucky whilst prancing on the keyboard, or it was intentional. The rest of the message referred to something about [USAF Museum in Dayton OH] Friends Journal, Volume 37 #3 Fall 2014 - then it hit me. I wrote a letter to the editor of the magazine.

"On behalf of the American Military Museum in Charleston, SC, I wish to congratulate you on another wonderful story in your publication, Friends Journal, which was passed on to me by my father, a 28-year veteran of the USAF. As an avid amateur WWII historian, I read with great interest the story in the Summer 2014 volume featuring the schoolteacher in France who rallied his students and school in the moving commemoration of the B-17 aircrew who perished in the crash near their school during the war. It was an incredible amount of work and dedication it took for him to arrange the ceremony and the wonderful tribute of painting the outline of the plane on the school grounds. I shared the story with friends in the UK who are going to try and visit the school – they were friends of Eighth Air Force crewman during World War II. I’m always happy to see the amazing impact a simple act of kindness can inspire!
The American Military Museum houses an extensive collection of military uniforms, weapons and equipment which encompasses the whole history of the United States military’s five branches. Keep up the great work!

So you see, I am longwinded ALL the time, not just around the garage. My dad read this in the Friends Journal and suggested I "get into writing because you can really spin a tale". I wasn't sure that was a compliment! LOL. Anyway, I just wanted to premiere my 'nom de plume' ... you heard it here first!
