Where are all the dings and dents you speak of? Makes "Short Round" look like he has been through War. Top notch there my friend. This twisted pile of steel... I have learned much perhaps...That of which I will NEVER DO THIS AGAIN!!!

Excellent Work!!! Don't start throwing stones at me, but I must also say... "It's nice to be talking about Willys projects and Willys stuff!!!" Not that the peripheral conversations aren't interesting....They're just not Willys conversations. You are one of my most admired and respected friends.... However, I cannot resist!!!

Tim Hawkridge was kind enough to mail me some correct gauge steel to repair my front cowl supports. I made and installed the passenger side. I didn't take pics of the process of welding it together. I still have the drivers side to make. I will take pics of that one. A little touch up, and it's done.

Tonight I got the first exterior panel finished to a point where I feel it's close to ready to paint. There is still a slight roll in the area where the front cowl support goes. I shrank, dollied, hammered and filled. I can't say that is perfect. At this point, I will have to honestly say, it never will be. There has got to be a point at which 70 year old sheet metal is just not going to be perfect. Am I beating myself up....yes!! This shit is IMPORTANT!!!!! I thought about what I had stated earlier in this post about the guy who sold it to me. I would like to Thank That Person. This tub is not going to beat me! I will finish it!! I will look back perhaps and say that was a Mother Fer! But I did it, and I learned so much. Remember, when I started it, I never welded a thing other than in shop class. You guys have helped me so much. From the first time that I saw The Hawks ODIE, The Moose came over and taught me how to use a MIG welder, watching Sir Eric's Build thread. Bitching to Lee, Scout, and Oileaker!! If I named all this post would go on forever! I am glad that this forum exist. All who participate here are top shelf guys. Sorry...rant over.. Here's the pic of the panel....

That panel looks perfect to me. I can remember your UP, then DOWN, then almost OUT when first starting the tub. You've conquered stuff that vexed you.
Remember what we all said..."Don't look at the tub as whole. Concentrate on one patch...one panel...at a time." Looks like you're running low on stuff to fix.
I'm so happy for you.

I wish I could find that place again. I hate when I look at forums, FB and see people bleeding. So I will not do that. I AM HAINES FING GARAGE MAN!!! You my friend have been an inspiration to me. And I am not just speaking of Jeeps here. One thing that I have definitely learned in my 46 years, who is full of it, and who is not. You Sir...Are Not. Thanks for the encouragement and the continued contributions to this Forum. You are always welcome, in my Garage. Say When.

After you finish the second one , you will get another as soon as you get over the pain and forget, you learn there are two places on a Jeep tub that always kick your butt. The front cowl support area as you are currently fixing, and the right rear top of the wheelwell. That stupid inner spare tire brace is always higher than the rest of it. Rock solid and won't move. So, You have to raise the rest of it to match. Not for the faint of heart. OD Green is a perfect paint for a Jeep. It looks good on anything. Spot welds, runs, and waves look just fine. If you go shiney black, You will see even 320 grit sand scratches and be irritated to the limit. I know you are saying: "I'll never do another". Mark my words, the disease is sinister. Imagine sitting in your Jeep on top of Mount Princeton. It can be done. Oilly

One should not say I'll never do another auto. I've said that about 3 vehicles ago. I said it when I finished my 3B, now I've started another project. This will be the last! (until something else comes along). Looks like you're doing a great job, so what's you're next project?

Most excellent progress and work. And yes you will do another as your will have DTs after this one is finished and the only cure is another build. That is what I am doing within the next month or so.

I have not finished this one yet....However.. A Jeep Scrambler with a 350 Chevy, 350 Turbo Trans, and big ass mudders would be cool, or better yet I want back my 66 CJ5 with a 225 Buick Dauntless !! Hell Yeah!!

Looks good, Haines. Ha! I need those on both sides so folks don't try to step on my rusty fender step things.

Still have a bunch to do before paint. I am getting excited about my bolt ons. It's actually starting to look like something. Installed the top bow as well.
