I've got no $$ to throw, but I've got a ton of rusty jeep parts to chuck at you. ;D. In this crowd, that could be gold!
Congrats!
Hey, maybe it's me, but isn't the new guy at the table supposed to host dinner? ...in Haines Garage, right?

Just noticed activity here. Came over for a look. I think you guys are confusing sarcasm with smart ass. If there is no "jousting", it's a dull world. I've been crazy about Jeeps since I bought my first one at 13. Rat Patrol started it. The patented fan noise, and a machine gun were pretty cool. If you watched JPET park his Jeep on a pile of snow in the parking lot, I did that way back. One of my high school friends had a M38a1. He pulled me off the snow pile. Whenever school was let out because of whiteout and bad blowing snow, we were elated. I think getting hopelessly stuck record for the day was 27. We discovered buildings in a row that had fresh blown snow as high as the roof at spaced regular intervals. We found you could drive through them. Man did we have fun. Now, I activate fully by people who "joust back" I can take what I dish out. These people and I become very good friends. Over and over, I read that members of the Jeep craze or group are amazed at how much we seem to have in common. It's very true. The more I find answers to what's wrong with my Jeep, or where to find help or parts, the more I enjoy giving back and sharing. That's why I became President of the SDFFC. I'm semi-retired and almost 60. I just finished a bout with prostate cancer and it looks like I've won, and am ready to move on. I figure I have 15 good years left in me and I'm ready to get back to trail riding, and "jousting". Let's not waste any time. My picture posting ability is now at it's all time low. Windows 8 and my old camera, program do not work on it. I'm thinking about taking a class on Windows 8 in April, and getting outside help on instructing me on how to use my computer better and how to post. I need a step by step chart to keep me on track with this. Systematic instructions. I can fix a Jeep with my eyes closed because they make sense to me. The over educated idiots that try to tell you how to use your computer always leave out the steps needed and assume you know them. You guys know how to exactly set your WO carb's metering rod don't you--------duh! Once I get pictures figured out, I have two 54 x 60 shops full of 35 years of collecting and building interesting vehicles. Current Jeep inventory: '45 MB, '48 2A, '49 3A, two '51 M38's, '52 A1, '48 pickup, '53 pickup. I also have done a stint with English cars and motorcycles. Now you really know where my handle comes from, Oil Leaking on every stinking one! My everyday drivers are two 2000 Jeep TJ wranglers. Then there is some larger Green Machines. Then the KING of the collection: "Chewy". A 32000 lb '51 Oshkosh Snogo blower. Got Snow? No Problem. A very bad boy he is! My rancher neighbor looked at Chewy running one day and said: "Not even God would let it snow here now!" Well, 3 October, he did. 4 feet. I was on my way back from Mayo Clinic and had fresh cut holes in me. With help from my faithful and wonderful wife, I was still able to kick the ass out of that snow! Love my machines. So, Knights, thanks for considering me and June 14th and 15th I'm opening up my establishment to the Joy of new and fruitful "Jousting". It's going to be fun. I plan on scouting out the trails in advance and will have some good old fashioned Jeeping planned for your entertainment. The Black Hills aren't Huge and tall, but they are very personal. 150 miles long, and 75 miles wide. Cool clean babbling streams, wonderful smells, great views including lookouts to see all 360 degrees out onto the plains. We will stand just like Custer did in 1874 and see basically the same things he did. ( no Indians though ). No matter where I travel, sightsee, live, work, go to college, or visit, I always am glad to get back Home! Haines, I think you are on to something here with your laid back Jeep chat site. Thanks for all your work and time here! Signed Oilleaker1!

Lee indicates: GPW----"the perfected Willys". Here we go, time to joust. How can that be when all the parts on it were rated "F". failed right? I will admit my MB does have failed parts on it. Just to be honest. John

HMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm,,,,,,,,"Failed, OR "Fantastic" . One needs to realize the engineering power of the Ford Motor Company in compairison to Willys Overland in 1941, I am reading Fred Coldwells book, Pre Production Civillian Jeeps, and it is interesting to read how Willys struggled to meet government deadlines on prototype and production MB's. For Ford, entering this production, was most likely able to step back and look at the Willys prints and could easily re engineer the production flaws (the grill for example)and change them. All good changes, maybe maybe not, either was a throwaway vehicle not intended to last 70+ years. So perfected, why yes, as they had the time and people to perfect it, and by the ACM 2 bodies, the best of the two was the outcome. So I stand on perfection, LOL , Thank god the bowtie crowd did not get involved . Lee Joust away my friend

Actually , not much to joust about, I'd add a GPW to the fold anytime one would present itself. Had a few ideas, one here, one there, but titles and completeness issues stopped the train of thought, ( or lust). I found it interesting that early GPW's had a flat top grill with no indent in the middle. lots to learn about jeeps. All of them. Fantastic, not failed, That's like Ford----------Found on Road Dead, or First On Race Day. We could go on and on. John

Thanks for the honor fellows! I knelt down and am pretty sure I felt a long blade tap the top of both shoulders. I suppose that I have to take a oath or recite something? I'm a long ways from the Carolina's but someday, we will meet. I'll be in Colorado this summer and have my own meet here in the Black Hills in June. I was amazed at how you globe trotters made it to Colorado last year. Wow. That had to be quite a change for you Scott! Birds of a feather do indeed flock together. John

So just how big are Scott's dogs? I thought gators ate dogs. Maybe you could bring a big Husky to do battle with them. A 372 X torque with a 20 inch bar ought to do! signed Sir Leaker
