I understand Jim Surveypunk, is picking one up tomorrow... I wish you the best, I think it will be OK.

OK, here's what I got. Opted for the local replacement from www.whiteowl.com/25TONCLASSTRUCKS.html . Originally described as NOS turned out to be new made in '92. Owner didn't know where they were made, just that he'd had them "a long time". Going to this place is like going to Toys-R-Us! Very close copy. Hope it's serviceable. Not real pleased with the plastic overflow tube, but I can live with it. Question for the assembled: I need to get the stay that attaches to the top of the radiator and the firewall. What's that called? Also, my original had what looks like conveyor belt pads on the legs to cushion the bottom. What is the proper method? Anybody recognize the logo on that tag? Looks like one of those Urrup-een sevens! If there's not enough detail, I can email these to someone for modification. I just ain't so savvy! Oh, I opted against the aluminum job after I saw one locally. Too much *bling*! Thanks, JB

Punk, I think the name is "radiator support rod". The original pads I've seen under the radiator were round cloth reinforced rubber. About 1/4- 3/8 inch think. I made new ones out of old conveyor belt. Rubber mud flaps work too. With 1/4 inch, you can add or subtract rubbers to get the right height for the fan shroud to be centered. You can buy solid rod 5/16 inch, bend a 90 on one end, and thread both. You will most likely need a jog in it over the cross over tube also. Your new radiator use the smaller standard size cap? Omix Ada radiators did. Original jeep radiators had a larger cap. Oil

Thanks Oil. I called Walcks yesterday and, of course, Dan set me straight. The rod was less than $20 and the pads weren't much at all. Got them on the way. I didn't pull the protective cover for the cap hole, so not sure about size. The indention in the cover looked rather large so hoping it's the same. Inlet and outlet were protected by plastic covers, cap by ol' fashioned cheese cloth and slop. See pics. Took my old 4# cap and the radiator to the shop where the machine is yesterday. Prolly won't have my stuff by this weekend so it'll be next weekend before I can play with it. Oh, they call the support "rod, radiator to cowl". I'd have had $20 + in it if I'd done it myself.

I also look at how much gas I have to burn to go get stuff or just order it on the net and have it delivered. Sad that gas costs more than the stupid part. Oil

'Nother quick question. If I eventually get the shroud extension, can it be put on while the radiator is mounted? Hate to get everything fixed then have to pull it all apart later.
Thanks, JB

Actually, yes, you can leave the fan on, lower the radiator in place, and then bolt up the shroud. However, to make it easier, I placed the extension over the fan before I lowered the radiator. I have then taken it back out the same way in reverse. Make sure all the shroud bolts have clean threads, nuts and bolts, and antiseize them. It makes it much easier to bolt up. Oil
