Being that it is a Jeep that originated in WWII for the troops, the helmet should be the M1 worn by the American troops. Decorated at you please. The flag should be like the guidon flag used by individual battalions, batteries, squadrons, etc.
A crossed Axe and Shovel would be my choice with a Unit type designation for your location in the part of the country you are from.

That is black and red. Took a pic of an Indian War or Civil War Guidon. No markings so must have been a general one.

The flag would get wasted in the trees on my Jeep. I was thinking a window sticker, but don't know about legality of it in your vision. A shoulder patch for your jeep jacket? Looks cool. The number thing is a confusion to me. Maybe your state's abbreviation like: SD for South Dakota. A hat with the flag on it? John
