It was good to be back out on the trail with you Sir Studewillys! Your voice is one that calms me , makes me laugh, and your observations are either full of shit or real. Never know which. Your mountain home is envious. Thanks for the ride. Observations: You need lollypops and a windshield handle and rubber T seal, so you can swing out that windshield and get some air while driving. Tops are used for civilized transportation and long distance winter driving. A heater fills the cavity with a temperature that keeps your hands warm and no gloves freezing to the steering wheel. Drawback is you'll need windshield wipers, heater, and a defroster since the snow off your boots melts, vaporizes and collects on the glass. You use a old wiper blade to clear that. I love how you say: oh, almost out of gas, and then punch it. You have no fear of walking home to get the lawnmower can out right? Anyway, the solution to all this is get another Jeep. A summer one, and a winter one. I hate removing and re-installing tops. The speedometer in your Jeep sure looks good eh? Have a great holiday Steven and a good steaming HBR. Oilly

An HBR at the end of that trip would have helped. Low fuel has equaled "the big walk" once before. 2 gallon can fits nice in the back. No worries there That is a good lookin' speedometer for sure!
I have another windshield, with no glass, but otherwise I think it is all there. Even has a (wrong) wiper motor. Good to mention all the systems needed to support having a top. I would even need to remove the tractor tread rubber hood blocks and put on taller ones so the wipers wouldn't hit he hood.
I have two jeeps! The winter driving jeep (the RuDycon) has heated seats, a top, wipers, defrosted, and everything! Sure it lacks a certain Willys style, but it still captures the capabilities and a hint of Jeep style.
Thanks, Oilleaker. Fine business on your diesel down post too.

Sir Rudy wears Red Flannel when spinning do-nuts in the snow on the way to the hdwe store, total Stud-Muffin! Me thinks maybe the Jeep ride was a feeble attempt to stall on the Garage Challenge? The rewards of a clean garage eclipse any plaque or trophy let me assure you! I need to spread some junk out on my bench this PM, the wide expanse of cleared oak is killin me!

Driving the Willys is always fun! Or at least "exciting!" Here is a little more progress. The trash can is full.

Disgusting stagnant garage. Mine is busy and filthy. What drives out the door is not. Oilly

Hmm. I have the opposite. Disgusting dirt road filthy stuff drives IN the door.
I'll try to make some more progress this week with an hour or 2 here and there after work. I would like less crap on the walls and less lumber stacked up on the side. I also need to work on my tunes out there. I see Rick has speakers and a TV in the garage. I can dare to dream.

I see Rick has speakers and a TV in the garage. I can dare to dream. Yesterday as I was dinkin around at the bench with a distributor Annie had the wood stove stoked and the football game on in the "customer lounge".

Aw man, Rick that sounds great! I was out in my garage hookin' up a ham radio and all I was doing was freezing my baguettes off. I'm going to hit the reStore store looking for one of those wall mounted fake fireplace heaters. Not exactly wood stove charming, but any heat would be good at this point!

Consider MR Heater.. they radiate a surprising amount of heat. I employ one in the outer reaches of my shop when needed. My shop is detached, not sure how homeowners insurance would react to using one in an attached garage environ. (yours is attached? the garage I mean? ) Attachments:

Lookie what I found on Craigslist. An electric, LED fireplace garage heater! Yes, you can change the color with the remote control to set the mood just right when you are out in the garage with that special someone. I swear it looks better in person. OK who am I foolin'? No it doesn't. But it is super man-tastic over my workbench in the garage and It does throw some BTUs into the garage!

Angle grinder/welder/brake fluid spray will set the mood for you! Next we'll need plush padded theater seats and popcorn.

Heck with all that crap Oilly! Sir Rudy will need 2 bathtubs in there "when the time is right" with that special someone just like the "See-Alice" commercials. Popcorn gets wet in the bathtub.

Yep Mr. Muleskinner, when I take a bath, I always get the water milky-soapy colored. That way they can't see my Single Action Colt .45 lying next to me! "Duco-------Don't Talk, Shoot!" Man I loved that. Oilly

The deadline is approaching! Sir Rudy and the Muleskinner are neck to neck heading to the finish line, will it be a foto finish? Both contenders have their merit and were game in the competition. What's it gonna be, Sir Rudy with his awesome infrared mood heater that changes from green to red when the viagra kicks in, or the Muleskinner with the poor man's gravel floor and woodstove in the "customer lounge".
Pistols or Broadswords? Or perhaps a POLL set up by an unbiased party will settle this epic contest!
Ahem, Rudy if "Bacon" is a choice in the poll we're both screwed!

Agree Rick. My garage is certainly more fun to be in this way even if bacon is better than my garage. I hope you guys have enjoyed your re-discovered floor and bench space. I still have a few more mods to implement. Today I upgraded my fire extinguisher, remounted my 240vac panel And I mounted a 450 watt flat panel heater to the wall. One more on the way. It is +5 F outside right now and +40 F in the garage after many hours. I have a pegboard to mount and some lighting to work on. Plenty of time! My sister got me me Union Jacks. Single button vertical flap. Made in USA.
