Speaking of craziness and South Africa..... Here's one of my favorites Mike, I betcha most of us here would go jeeping with you in a heartbeat! Only if we had the time and money get to another continent! Ya, that was one of my favourite movies! It came out when I was around 7 or 8, I think. I managed to record it off the TV onto a VHS cassette (remember those days?) and I must have watched it 20 or 30 times, until the tape wore out. I could recite whole passages of the movie by heart.
Ya, we live in a generally crazy country. But hey, it keeps it exciting!
I would love to host a few of you fellows in South Africa. The invitation is always open. Anyone want to view big game in a game reserve from a '48 CJ2A? Come on.....!
I occasionally have the chance to get over to the States on business, so maybe the next time I am there I will see if I can track some of you fellows down and see if we can do some Jeepin' in your country!!!

I'm still around, just haven't really left the corrals of the usual websites I frequent to get back here. Thanks for all your welcoming post. I now have this forum bookmarked to remind me, so it's just a click away now. Bailey has been neglected since the CFFC and has been sitting in the garage since but I have been working on and setting up a trailer I bought to tote her around. Should be ready to pull to those hills come next year John.

There you are Bretto! Customizing a used trailer to your personal specs can be a satisfying winter project! Now we won't have to deal with that monster 24ft gooseneck next year-(it did serve us well tho!) Didn't Becky get some fotos of us and the loaded rig? I wanna see em..

I think so, didn't she take some at the TDR if I recall? I had some of the loaded rig at my house and some pics of the trip but can't find them anywhere on my SD cards. Hope the kids didn't delete them. I'll see if I can find em.

Whatever you two work up, I'm not fussy. Just glad to have you interested in coming. We'll have no high altitude problems to contend with. 6700 ft. max here. I'm the easy meet guy. Some don't like high cliffs and such, but nothing like Mount Princeton or Black Bear Pass here. Just fun cruising in the woods. I might even mix in a little Fort Meade calvary history. Show you the stone horse jumps and the hill where I scared the rough tough combine crew----------LOL. It's closed to vehicles now, but you can see it.

Trailers coming along nicely. I had to reinforce the rear drop gate with some angle so I can drive up a Jeep up. It's now 14' and has D-rings, should be able to tow the Jeep facing backward just fine being that I didn't move the axles. Today I got to looking underneath the coupler and found that the ball socket is cracked so I cut it off and will be replacing it. I still have to check the brakes, bearings and need to get a spare for it and some good tie down straps.

Check out bulldog ball hitches! Oilly X2!! A little pricey, and may need a little persuading with a hammer from time to time, but rock solid bullet proof!
