If you're thinking about me, I haven't a clue. Just getting started in this and having fun looking at yard sales and auctions for this stuff.

Explanation of contest! This is from experience of mine.
The 5 # Plumb is a large axe, and is Rare and Hard to find.
The Mann axe here is stamped USA Jeep fellows like that, although it is not. A WW 2 dead give away!
The Kelly Flint Edge is very popular , and was it a USA marked version , it would out do the Mann (Like the one pictured at the top of the thread )
The 3.2 # Plumb is a great head. But the weight us not popular, and these are more common
The small Plumb is a camping axe, or a boys axe. Limited market . I guess young fellows just don't dig axes anymore. .
And there you have it ! Close race Captain and Major!!!!
One last thing ... If you are in the axe hunt, The most. Valuable axes I have dealt with are Vintage Gransfor Bruks. ... Or vintage Swedish !!! Many those Scandanavians know their forging!!!!!

I prefer a chainsaw myself , and make it an orange XP Husqvarna . That raised a thought in my head! . Instead of an axe I will mount a chainsaw on the side of the GPW , give the Jeep police a stroke Lee

That is going to require quite a large tool indent and slight decrease in fuel capacity.

If you are in the axe hunt, The most. Valuable axes I have dealt with are Vintage Gransfor Bruks. ... Or vintage Swedish !!! Many those Scandanavians know their forging!!!!! This is a Great Thread!!! Why HELL NO! Why would young fellers dig a axe anymore...that would require personal effort and forethought. I'm sure most have never seen a tree felled by axe or saw!! Plus, they are dangerous just like them nasty guns that shoot people all the time cuz that's what the bleeding hearts and the news media sez. I ran across an old Boy Scout book ifrom the late thirties, the back pages of the book where filled with advertisements for bicycles, hatches, axes, and .22s. BOYS!! EARN YOUR MARKSMANSHIP BADGE WITH AN IVER-JOHNSON!! one said.... Back to subject at hand... Never seen a Scandanavian axe head, but I've heard they will hold an edge all the way to hell and back. Cool pics Sir Schiller! Nothing says "Man" like a sharp axe! Dad didn't sober up enough to buy a good Stihl chainsaw and a hydraulic log splitter until I left home, but we had a helleva log skidder...... said WILLYS under a split windshield... Oh well, I digress....

Stihl , I have a 250 and what a POS, would not take an ore boat load of them for free. Everyone makes a POS and the 250 is Stihl's >: Back to topic ,, Haines you need to make a sticky here on Axe heads so the Axe retards like myself know what to look for when out digging in the pile. One may stumble across the crown jewel and not know it! Gary, I really do not think you fit in well here with this type of attitude Why would young fellers dig a axe anymore...that would require personal effort and forethought. I'm sure most have never seen a tree felled by axe or saw!! Read more: hainesgarage.proboards.com/post/new/511#ixzz39L3PUa8oPersonally I think the news media types should go to the range with this type of handgun It would correct many wrongs in the media today . Come to think of it attorneys, politicians, and the EPA should get a fair turn at the range as well Lee

Like the Cap'n says !!! We need this to be a Sticky topic!
When Dad bought that second hand Stihl (can't remember what model) saw, I though is was a joke at first, it was half the weight of the late seventies Poulan saw we had ( I still have it, by the way), and didn't have as long of a bar. Then I used it... She did alright!
The only Husqvarna I've used was the box store model, but several people like yourself, and Scott say the higher end ones are something to reckon with!!
